National Sex Offender Public Registry - Click here for the new National Sex Offender Registry Sex Offender Directories by State
Megan's Law equips the public with certain information on the whereabouts of dangerous sex offenders so that local communities may protect themselves and their children. The law also authorizes local law enforcement to notify the public about high-risk and serious sex offenders who reside in, are employed in, or frequent the community. The law is not intended to punish the offender and specifically prohibits using the information to harass or commit any crime against the offender. It recognizes that public safety is best served when registered sex offenders are not concealing their location to avoid harassment. Please click on the state you reside in to obtain local information for your area. Many states prefer to protect the rights of the convicted criminals and have yet to create any system that will allow their citizens to view this potentially life-threatening information online. If you are a resident of one of those states, we urge you to contact your national, state and county politicians, and your state's attorney general's office. We have even provided a sample letter available by clicking here, all you have to is sign it and send it! Click here to find contact information
for your representatives in congress: We have tried to provide some additional information source links, and in addition to those links, the Office of Justice Programs sponsors the Center for Sex Offenders Management, a national agency and resource site. If you would like to submit a link or correct any link information, please click here.
